ALICE STRAKER IS A BRITISH ARTIST AND DESIGNER. CONTEMPORARY, STRIKING AND PLAYFUL, ALICE’S DESIGNS CONVEY THE TOTAL DELICIOUSNESS OF FOOD AND THE WORLD AROUND HER WITH A DREAMLIKE EDGE
Alice’s paintings range in subject matter from apple blossom to chocolate eclairs! Her work has a sense of deliciousness about it, which is achieved through materials, tools and texture. Alice is working on a series of large scale paintings which will be available at the end of the year.
Her paintings are thickly textured and use an uplifting colour palette which makes them sing from the walls. Her products, which currently include stunning fish and game birds wallpaper, glossy fish, vegetable and game birds themed placemats, gorgeous linen napkins and tea towels and a charming new pottery range - are all similarly original and stylish. She draws inspiration from her family’s love of cooking, her twin brother is a chef, and her degree in Art History and penchant for colour theory. Alice’s work is striking and playful and ready to adorn your tables and walls!
‘TOTALLY addicted to all of Alice's stuff! I have the placemats, coasters, aprons, Aga covers, tea towels, prints and even the postcards. Excellent quality and couldn't recommend enough!’

‘Al Straker lives in a dreamlike reality which her work captures. Her imagination can be sparked by anything from a word, to cooking a meal or just going on a walk. To see the magic in life is a gift many artists don’t have, an Al applies her absolute focus to this magic.’
‘I love the mats and coasters I bought recently - great colours and excellent quality. Thank you!’

Beauty behind the madness
Alice’s inspiration comes from her family’s love of cooking - her mother was a culinary force growing up, and her twin brother, Thomas Straker, is a chef. After her encounter with ‘that’ cake - Alice would frequent Tom’s restaurants and paint the dishes that flew out of the kitchen! Alice also draws inspiration from her love of Art History. You can see art historical references throughout her work, from Pop Art to Impressionism, Hockney to Matisse.
